In this corner of the bookstore is the heavyweight champion of the Campground Directory World — with over 1,000 pages, one and a half-inches thick and weighing in at more than three pounds. It’s page after page of non-biased descriptions of darn near every RV park and campground in the USA except for those backwoods ones used by hunters and hermits. Each campground is rated by beauty, spaciousness, security, site privacy, cleanliness, facilities, insect control (those bothersome little creatures that can spoil a good barbecue), and how quiet it is. Everything about a campsite is spelled out — where the good ones are, which will take a big rig, which ones get shade and which have good scenic views (or not!). This monster directory differs from those from Woodall’s and Trailer Life because it has no advertising. Some RVers like ads, but some don’t — they say it affects the honesty of the ratings (big ad = good rating, etc.). This Frommer’s 2007 directory includes fees for each campground (hookups sites and primitive), numbers of pull thru sites, reservation information, driving directions, pet rules, nearby recreation, whether you can walk to town. . . and a whole lot more. It’s big! It’s fat! But it’s not ugly! It’s awesome! Published 2007. 1095 pages.
